Resumen
This article uses a panel data econometric model to investigate Venezuelan migration’s impact on citizen security in Peru during the years 2018-2023. The model confirms a statistically significant, albeit modest, impact of the migratory flow on citizen security: its magnitude is relatively low, given that Venezuelan citizens total nearly 1.2 million migrants in the country. The results also show insufficient investment to address this problem and that increasing the number of police stations, among other actions, can help reduce citizen insecurity rates. These results contribute to understanding security dynamics in migration contexts and serve as a basis for making more inclusive and practical public policy recommendations.
