Resumen
Introduction: The interaction and connection between the ocean and the human communities settled near it is evident, being in many cases the mainstay of their economies. However, the pollution to which it is exposed and the negative impacts it brings with it are well known. Peru's marine-coastal strip, the most biologically rich marine corridor in the world, is one of the ecosystems most exposed to microbiological contamination due to the emission of sewage or wastewater from industrial centers, causing severe environmental impacts, and generating damage to populations and species migration. Objective: The present study sought to determine the impact of microbiological contamination on the Peruvian marine coastal strip. Materials and Methods: A review of the reports on microbiological contamination in Peru issued by SANIPES from 2014 to 2023 was carried out, and their environmental impact was determined. Results and Conclusions: Microbiological contamination of this ecosystem in our country is recurrent, evidencing a strong impact on the extraction and commercialization of hydro biological species (bivalves), and the loss of many ecosystem services, significantly affecting the economy.
