Resumen
Inventory management is an essential component in the supply chain of any business, as poor planning can lead to significant supply issues, lost sales, and customer dissatisfaction. This study proposes the implementation of forecasting methods to improve decision-making in determining the optimal production lot size, aiming to reduce stockouts and increase product availability. Through an evaluation of time series data, the most accurate model relative to market demand was identified, enabling more precise adjustments to inventory projections based on real market demand fluctuations. The results reveal a 27.37% reduction in stockouts and a 33.82% decrease in forecast error, thereby greatly improving the accuracy of demand estimation. This improvement further contributes to increased customer satisfaction and minimizes costs that are typically associated with stockouts. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that using forecasting models effectively supports production planning, yielding highly favorable results, as demonstrated in the furniture business analyzed in
