Resumen
This study evaluates the phytoremediation capacity of Urtica urens and Brassica rapa in lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) contaminated soils through a meta-analysis of 55 scientific articles selected from indexed databases. The results indicate that Urtica urens has a higher accumulation of Pb in its leaves (147.74 mg/kg), while Brassica rapa concentrates a higher amount of Cd in its roots (4.46 mg/kg). Statistical analysis, performed with SPSS software, allowed determining the mean concentrations of these metals in both species. It was identified that the main phytoremediation strategies employed are phytoextraction and phytostabilization. In terms of efficiency, Urtica urens achieved a removal rate of 70 % for Pb, while Brassica rapa achieved 27.60 % for Cd removal. The PRISMA methodology was used for the selection and analysis of the studies, ensuring the quality and validity of the meta-analysis. The findings of this research provide relevant evidence on the potential of these species in the remediation of soils contaminated with heavy metals.
