Resumen
Two models of solar air collectors are thermally compared with 4 different configurations each one for altitude conditions above 3000 m above sea level: Single-pass solar air collector with flow below the absorbent plate (SACSP), double-pass air collector (SACDP) making 8 variations in total. Thermal models of the solar air collectors are presented and were solved using EES software. The results of the theoretical models show that the SACDP with a single cover and with selective coating has a higher outlet air temperature and higher thermal performance. A SACDP configuration was validated experimentally, and the results showed a strong correlation with the thermal model. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2026.
