Resumen

Carmenta foraseminis (Busck) Eichlin is considered one of the main pests in the cocoa crop, therefore, control strategies that are easy to acquire, prepare, use and are low cost must be generated. The objective was to determine the insecticidal effect of the extract of Lonchocarpus utilis-LU leaves on the control of Carmenta foraseminis in Theobroma cacao fruits. A completely random block design (CRBD) was used, with 6 treatments, 3 blocks and 10 fruits per experimental plot. The treatments were 6 concentrations of the extract (T1:0%; T2:10%; T3:20%; T4:30%; T5:40% and T6:50%). The variables evaluated were: percentage of presence of eggs in the fruit (PPHF), percentage of larval hatching (PEL), number of hatched larvae (NLE), percentage of attacked fruits (PFA) and number of holes (NO). It was determined that the concentrations of 30% and 40% had a greater inhibition capacity of larvae hatching of 10.89% on the fourth day and 22.85% on the sixth day of exposure. Concentrations of 30% and 40% were more efficient in reducing pest attack, with 3.77% and 6.79% on the fourth and fifth day of exposure. Meanwhile, the concentrations of 10% and 20% presented greater attack in 34% and 28% on the fourth and fifth day of exposure. It is concluded that the concentrations of 30% and 40% of the extract of Lonchocarpus utilis leaves caused greater efficiency in the control of Carmenta foraseminis in Theobrama cacao fruits.
