Lithic studies in South America: Need for a common technography?

Resumen
If we consider worldwide prehistory, South America was the crucible of a great diversity of lithic production and functional systems within a short interval of time, from the first occupations of the Pleistocene to the most recent developments of the Holocene. This technical diversity has favored and continues to favor the proliferation of analytical and interpretative approaches for its study, generally without significant interconnection and/ or disciplinary dialogue. Consequently, the current framework of lithic studies in this subcontinent can be described as heterogeneous, in certain instances fertile, other times unproductive, and always with strong regional disparities. © Editado por R.
