Linguistic approaches to the word Iñikuk; [Approches linguistiques du vocable Iñikuk]

Resumen

The word Iñikuk gives its name to the participants of the famous ceremony in northern Peru in which the Iñikuk Muchik is elected. Taking this into account, the main objectives of this research have been to explain its formation and possible meaning through the dictionaries consulted and the opinion of expert linguists, and to elaborate some possible approximations to an alternative meaning according to the analysis of a new list of words in Mochica. In addition, we have sought to explain the meaning that the word has taken in the current context of the media and social networks. With the purpose of performing this task, an interesting field work was carried out in the district of Morrope (Lambayeque), where we worked together with the Iñikuk Muchik, local teachers, intellectuals, Mochica culture managers, municipal officials and the people in general.
