Lexical superlation in ways of conceptualizing Peruvian food; [La superlativité lexicale dans les manières de conceptualiser l’alimentation péruvienne]; [A superlativação lexical nas formas de conceituar a alimentação peruana]

Resumen

This study aims to identify the common meanings associated with the concepts of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This study is important because it provides new words and constitutes the Peruvian lexicological assessment that supports lexical superlation as a semantic phenomenon in everyday food-related speech. The methodology used corresponds to the qualitative approach, with a non-experimental cross-sectional and descriptive design. The registration of the 59 words occurred during the period from October to February 2026 and through group dialogues with students of the I cycle of Language and Literature and Psychology (2025-II), at a public Peruvian university, which gathers students from northern Peru and represents an important source due to the cultural diversity in the use of words in the context of gastronomy. The proposal of 59 words provides an important material to the construction of a new diatechnical dictionary on the meanings of daily food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) based on the signifier–signified duality, with an emphasis on lexicological construction, sociolinguistics, and the particularities of language related to the meanings of daily food consumption. © Los autores.
