Resumen
Financial inclusion in Ecuador shows moderate progress and areas of opportunity. Indicators reflect knowledge of the regulatory framework and supervision of the financial system, with an average of 74.05%. Sustainable financial inclusion is analyzed, based on the regulatory framework, as an essential element in this sector. The research is quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, and field-based. Although there is an acceptable knowledge of key regulations, implementing financial access programs shows moderate results, with an average of 63.93%. The comprehensive financial inclusion strategy faces legal challenges for public and private sector institutions. Financial education is necessary to understand critical areas and requirements that need to be addressed as part of adhering to existing regulations that allow access to products and services. Despite significant efforts, a coordinated and effective approach is needed to achieve sustainable and effective financial inclusion that takes place within the framework of a highly demanding regulatory system. © The author
