Resumen
This paper will study the cognitive benefits that conceiving one’s own identity through the examination of that of the otherness may entail. Such otherness would possess an intrinsic epistemic value, which 2ill be even more conducive 2il the diagnosis of one’s own representation of reality that every subject could embrace in order to know his or her own subjectivity. In this sense, this article 2ill examine such a subject on the basis of the rights, privileges and 2ill2s that, throughout the history of the Western Culture, the migrant as an alterity has received from the socio-political host communities. In this sense, it 2ill be suggested that the Roman citizenship immanent juridicism, together with Cicero’s rhetoric of eloquence, 2ill constitute historical-analytical resources that 2ill allow us to explain the aforementioned epistemic value that the migrant, as an alterity, could bestow to any given community.
