Resumen
Introduction: The labeling with octagons in Peru is warned in all processed products that exceed the permitted limit of critical nutrients. Up to now, there is not enough information about the knowledge, attitudes and practices about labeling with octagons in adolescents. Objectives: To determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes and practices about labeling with octagons in high school students from a private educational institution. Materials and Methods: Research with a quantitative approach, non-experimental, cross-sectional design. 3 questionnaires validated by expert judgments were applied in 51 adolescents, the level of knowledge, attitudes and practices about labeling with octagons in ultra-processed foods was evaluated, for the inferential statistical analysis the Chi-square test was used. Results: 41.2% presented low knowledge, 39.2% regular and only 19.6% presented high knowledge. Likewise, 96.1% presented a favorable attitude towards labeling with octagons and 90.2% presented incorrect practices. A significant and directly proportional relationship was found between the knowledge and practice variables (p<0.05). Conclusions: There is a statistically significant and directly proportional relationship between knowledge and practices regarding the labeling of ultra-processed foods with octagons.
