Resumen
INTRODUCTION. Cervical cancer is growing exponentially in Peru; being a preventable disease in young women such as adolescents; teachers of educational institutions are influential actors in health behaviors; therefore, assessing their knowledge is relevant. OBJECTIVE: To determine the level of knowledge about preventive measures of cervical neoplasia in teachers of the National Educational Institution for women in Lambayeque-Peru. METHODOLOGY. Basic, descriptive, and prospective, the study sample consisted of 108 teachers. An instrument with validity and reliability was used; ethical principles always governed the research. RESULTS. Regarding knowledge of preventive measures for cervical neoplasia, 83% did not know about these measures. Based on each dimension 66%, 83% and 76% do not know about conceptual aspects, and primary and secondary prevention measures respectively. CONCLUSIONS. The high percentage of ignorance on the part of teachers in charge of training young female students makes it necessary for school health nursing in Peru to promote preventive-promotional activities in educational institutions, including training and budget allocation so that emphasis is placed on primary prevention of a disease that claims the lives of women in the world.
