Resumen
Continuous water quality monitoring is essential in intensive tilapia farming systems based on biofloc technology, where physicochemical variations can directly affect environmental stability and overall productive performance. In this study, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based system was implemented and evaluated at the Ahuashiyacu Fisheries Station, San Martín, Peru, to periodically monitor temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and nitrate ion. The system integrated sensors connected to an IoT node with wireless transmission to a web platform for storing, consulting, and visualizing the collected data. Between November 2024 and September 2025, more than 22,000 measurements were recorded during field operation. Temperature remained between 24 and 27 °C, whereas dissolved oxygen ranged from 4 to 12 mg/L throughout the monitoring period. Atypical pH records and a temporary increase in nitrate ion were also identified in the dataset. The results demonstrated the system’s operational feasibility and its usefulness as a technological tool for the continuous technical monitoring and supervision of water quality conditions. © Los autores.
