Resumen
The article addresses the paradox of project management from the decontex-tualization of its object, both at an urban and architectural scope, on the other hand reproduces the dichotomy between the urban and rural settings as mutually exclusive categories. The case study is taken from the empirical approach to “Las Bambas” project; the author participated in the management of the involuntary resettlement process within this project, ttherefore, he retrieves data and document analysis with information collected in the field. The decontextualization is verified both at the urban and architectural scale of the new human settlement known as “Nueva Fuerabamba”, for this purpose, the author relies on the evaluation of plans and photographs, prepared both by third parties and on his own initiative. Additionally, he consulted secondary sources, such as bibliography within the thematic context of involuntary resettlement processes. Involuntary resettlement takes place within forced eviction actions, therefore generates a volatile scenario exposed to the scope of the negotiation with those affected by the relocation. Those affected speculate on compensation opportunities based on the estimated monetary benefit, eventually making them complicit in a process in which participatory design is distorted and.educed to a consensus process in the political sphere, not in the context of the technical, which seeks to validate the design standards and specifications to improve the quality of life and roots of the residents. The project highlights the absurdity of urbanizing what is essentially rural. The rural implies not only a typology of settlement, but above all a way of life, this is dismantled by subjecting the human settlement project to an urban way of life. © (2025), (Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico).
