Intelligent Mamdani Fuzzy Logic Control for Precise and Robust Dosing of Low-Flowability Metallic Powders and Synthetic Diamonds

Sanchez G.H.; Cahuana E.B.A.; Quispe M.A.L.; Acosta A.K.N. · 2025 8th International Conference on Robotics, Control and Automation Engineering, RCAE 2025 (2025) · DOI: 10.1109/rcae66389.2025.11355169

Resumen

This paper presents the development of an intelligent fuzzy logic controller for automated dosing of metallic powders and synthetic diamonds. The system improves precision and stability by dynamically adjusting screw feeder RPM based on real-time weighing errors and material flowability. Tests with diverse materials, including low-flowability Tungsten C5 powder (33.8%), validated the approach. The fuzzy controller achieved a final dose of 202.5 ct with an absolute error of 1.25%, compared to 7.8% using step-based control. Regression analysis confirmed its superior consistency, with R2=0.9515 versus R2=0.782 for the conventional method. These results demonstrate that the proposed Mamdani controller effectively addresses nonlinearities and uncertainties, reducing overshoot and improving accuracy by more than 80%. The system thus provides a robust and adaptive solution for dosing processes in complex particulate materials, aligning with industrial requirements for intelligent control and optimization of nonlinear systems.
