Resumen
The integration of local communities into ecotourism represents a promising strategy for advancing sustainable forest restoration in San Martín Peruvian Amazonian Region. Communities possess invaluable ecological knowledge that, when combined with supportive policies and tourism opportunities, can foster conservation and socioeconomic resilience. This chapter examines the interplay of ecotourism, community engagement, and forest restoration in San Martín, analyzing both enabling factors and barriers. Findings highlight that community-based ecotourism not only enhances biodiversity protection but also strengthens cultural identity, gender equity, and rural livelihoods. The study proposes a replicable framework for inclusive governance and concludes by situating ecotourism within broader regenerative tourism paradigms, where tourism actively regenerates ecosystems and social well-being.
