Integrated Systems 4.0: Process Optimization in Natural Gas Installations Through IoT, Lean Construction, and TPM

Nuñez H.; Valencia V.; Pazce F. · Advances in Transdisciplinary Engineering (2026) · DOI: 10.3233/atde260722

Resumen

This paper presents a model designed to optimize the natural gas installation process, thereby enhancing project operational performance. Evidence from recent studies in comparable service companies indicates that problems related to activity coordination, material management, and planning accuracy significantly increase constraints during construction stages. In response, this research applies methodologies commonly used in the construction and industrial sectors, including Lean Construction, the SCOR model, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), adapting them to the specific context of residential natural gas installations. Based on this approach, the proposal integrates a digital supervision and collaborative planning system focused on critical materials, together with IoT-based monitoring of equipment and maintenance activities. The objective is to strengthen planning reliability, procurement control, and asset availability throughout project execution. This integrated framework supports the reduction of operational costs, the more effective use of resources, and an improvement in sustainability and competitiveness within the current industrial environment.
