Resumen
Background: Insulinoma is an infrequent tumor that triggers a hypoglycemic state symptoms manifested by classic vegetative and neuroglycopenic symptoms. Sometimes neuropsychiatric manifestations are present and offer overlapping symptoms that can cause confusion with other pathologies and delay a correct diagnosis. Objective: to present a case of insulinoma with neuropsychiatric manifestations. Clinical case: a 37- year-old woman debut with a seizure classified as epilepsy, which cannot be controlled with drug treatment with the later addition of holocranial headaches, disorientation and hallucinations. Due to its association with hypoglycimia, the diagnosis of insulinoma was proposed. Said diagnosis was later confirmed through tomography and contrasted enhanced abdominal resonance as well as by biopsy. Patient tolerated surgery, the neuropsychiatric symptoms did not return and she was discharged. Since it was considered that the seizures were part of the manifestations of insulinoma, the anticonvulsant treatment was swas suspended and an absence of all symptoms, including seizures, was seen in the patient's follow-up visits. Conclusion: insulinoma can manifest with neuropsychiatric symptoms and be confused with, delaying its diagnosis.
