Resumen
Innovation management has become a determining factor for the development and efficiency of government institutions. The study of innovation management in government institutions is relevant to promote competitiveness and sustainable development at the national and international level. Therefore, the objective of this work is to identify the most common barriers and success factors that government institutions face when trying to implement innovative processes. The research is descriptive and quantitative in nature. A structured questionnaire that includes a Likert scale was applied to know the opinion of workers and managers of government institutions. The main findings of the research highlight the importance of factors such as visionary leadership, an innovative culture, collaboration and flexibility in government institutions to drive innovation. Barriers were identified such as lack of senior management support and resistance to change, while success factors included visionary leadership, an innovative culture and effective collaboration.
