Resumen

Ferroelectric barium titanate (BaTiO3) nanoparticles are considered promising materials in multiple applications due to their excellent optical, dielectric, and piezoelectric properties, In biomedical sciences, they can be used to create nanoprobes for screening the genetic diseases or cancer through photonic microscopy based on the physical phenomenon of second harmonic generation (SGH). Their surface modification using biopolymers is a way to reduce their toxic effects and prevent their agglomeration in tissues. Here, we report the results of the study on the effect of surface modification of BaTiO3 nanoparticles with Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) obtained from halophiles bacteria using as a source of carbon, glucose, and molasses residues. It was found that BaTiO3 nanoparticles maintain the tetragonal ferroelectric structure when they are modified with PHB, while the intensity of the second harmonic generation is better when they are modified with PHB Molasses.
