Influence of Curriculum Design in the consolidation of the Entrant Profile in Computer Science Programs: An evaluation through Data Mining

Choque-Soto V.M.; Sosa-Jauregui V.D.; Ibarra W. · RISTI - Revista Iberica de Sistemas e Tecnologias de Informacao (2024)

Resumen

It is important to ensure the fulfillment of the entry profile to a professional program, which allows students to be prepared for future challenges. This situation is evident in informatics programs, due to the need for a profile with a disposition for abstraction and solution of complex problems, among other aspects. The objective of this research is to evaluate the fulfillment of the entry profile and to verify if the curricular design influences its consolidation. To achieve this objective, an evaluation model has been built, based on KDD or Data Mining data analysis techniques, applied on student records from an informatics program. After the analysis, patterns were identified and shows that the curricular design influences the fulfillment of the entry profile. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that good curriculum design is a key factor in ensuring the fulfillment of the entry profile..
