Influence of Concentration and Calcination Temperature on the Electrical Properties of Copper Oxide Fibers obtained by the Electrospinning Method

Hurtado Butrón F.J.; Jáuregui Rosas S.R.; Samanamud Moreno F.V.; Aguilar Castro W.M. · Chemical Engineering Transactions (2025) · DOI: 10.3303/cet25116139

Resumen

The electrospinning method consists of applying a high voltage to a solution of viscoelastic materials to form fine fibers in the synthesis of porous synthetic membranes. In this study, calcination temperatures ranging from 300 °C to 850 °C were applied on electrospun PVA fibers containing Cu acetate in order to obtain copper oxide fibers and to analyze their electrical properties from crystallinity and electrical conductivity measurements. Using X-ray diffraction (XRD), a maximum crystallinity of 98.57% was recorded, while atomic force microscopy (AFM) was used to observe the morphology of the samples, as well as to measure their thickness. Using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), the electrical conductivity of the calcined samples was determined. The results indicate that when comparing the percentage of crystallinity with the applied calcination temperature, higher temperatures and higher concentrations lead to an increase in crystallinity, approaching a maximum limit close to 100 %. This trend suggests that crystallinity is influenced by Cu acetate concentration and calcination temperature, following a Sigmoid function. Copyright
