Resumen
This study examines the territorial evolution and heritage significance of the former Tuman sugar factory (Lambayeque, Peru) to propose an adaptive reuse strategy compatible with its conservation and urban integration. First, a territorial inventory of sugar mills was developed to understand their historical location, links to railway infrastructure, and connections to ports. Then, a multi-dimensional assessment (architectural, historical, constructive, ensemble, industrial landscape, technological) was applied using field observation and documentary analysis. Findings show high values in historical and ensemble dimensions, medium values in architectural and constructive aspects, and a low technological value due to obsolete machinery. Based on this, a mixed reuse is proposed, combining the conservation of significant elements with the adaptation of sheds to cultural and educational uses, plus the creation of green areas and interpretive routes. The proposal aims to keep industrial memory legible, provide quality public spaces, and promote responsible land use. © (2025), (Universidad Bernardo O'Higgins). All right reserved.
