Resumen
Since 2018, food insecurity has increased significantly worldwide, especially in Latin America, the Caribbean and Peru, due to conflicts, the COVID-19 pandemic, low economic growth, inflation, poverty, inequality and climate shocks. These conditions make it difficult to achieve the goal of eradicating hunger by 2030, underlining the importance of focusing resources on food and nutrition security. This article reviews research that identifies effective interventions and the additional costs needed to eradicate hunger worldwide by 2030. In Peru, a portfolio of 10 effective interventions is proposed, requiring an additional annual investment of US$393.3 million to lift 2.4 million people out of hunger. This investment is distributed as US$50.4 million for food systems, US$259 million for climate resilience, US$45.8 million for social protection and US$38.5 million for rural infrastructure.
