Resumen
The continuous growth of the pharmaceutical industry has increased logistical demands, particularly in order preparation, where service quality is essential to ensure customer satisfaction. This study addresses common limitations in pharmaceutical warehouses, such as the lack of real-time visibility, reliance on manual methods, and inefficient space allocation. To overcome these challenges, the implementation of a Warehouse Management System (WMS) integrated with IoT technology is proposed, complemented by the Slotting and Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) methodologies. The model validation included an ABC analysis, layout redesign, simulation in FlexSim, and evaluation of key performance indicators. The results demonstrated significant improvements: the service level increased from 91.78% to 98.2%, the cycle time was reduced from 20.02 to 14 minutes, and inventory accuracy rose to 95%. These improvements enabled the company to reduce performance gaps and meet the established service levels for order-based picking in the pharmaceutical warehouse. In conclusion, the proposed model optimizes space utilization, streamlines workflow, and strengthens traceability, resulting in a more accurate, agile, and reliable order management process aligned with industry standards.
