Resumen
Through Juan Bustamante's journey to North America and Europe in the mid-19th century, we will learn about the impact of the historical context on the societies observed by the Peruvian traveler. The Industrial Revolution was decisive in North America, England, and France; political instability and internal armed conflicts shook Spain; and social repression rocked parts of the Italian peninsula due to foreign occupation, which was reflected in increased controls on travelers at internal customs. This written travel experience allows us to understand these realities that impacted the territories visited between 1841 and 1842.
