Resumen
The hardware commercial sector is one of the most prosperous internationally, however, there is an imperative need for strategies that support the inventory control and warehouse management processes; since its deficiencies are manifested throughout the supply chain. An efficient management of both processes, allows a timely response to the requirements, and thus companies improve their competitiveness, grow in a changing market, and contribute to the internal economy of a country. Therefore, the main objective of this research was to implement inventory control and warehouse management strategies to reduce operating costs in a hardware company, since deficiencies such as inventory reliability of less than 20%, disorganization in the warehouse, high inventory levels, high rates of stock breakage and empirical work of the staff were found. This research adopts a quantitative, applied approach, with a pre-experimental design. The implementation of the internal control Kardex, ABC classification, Layout redesign and training plan in the hardware company, resulted in a maximum reduction of 26.3% of its operational costs, a result with which the implementation of these strategies can be validated.
