Resumen
Controlled activity programs have been demonstrated to improve the results of bariatric surgery, when compared with just recommendations of physical activity. NICE guideline recommends that postoperative follow-up of patients with obesity should incorporate counseling and support for physical activity, in order to optimize the benefits of bariatric surgery. Different studies show that exercise plans start 2-3 months after surgery with supervised exercise program, which meets all the phases of training proposed in this chapter, should last 10-14 months. Assessment is very important in order to collect the necessary information for the physical activity program prescription, as well as to have references to analyze the results and reorganize the training program when necessary. In general, Exercise Prescription consists of the following phases: Neuromuscular adaptation, hypertrophy, muscular power, and energy expenditure. This chapter summarizes the available evidence about Implementation of controlled physical activity programs. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
