Resumen
A DCS (Distributed Control System) allows the integration of equipment from different brands to implement automation tasks. This work develops and implements a multi-purpose DCS for academic purposes that integrates Siemens and Rockwell Automation equipment by means of an OPC (OLE for Process Control) server, where OLE is an acronym meaning Object Linking and Embedding. OPC is the standard for industrial communication technology, which allows the exchange of information between multiple devices and control applications without restrictions or limits imposed by manufacturers. To demonstrate the capabilities of the implemented DCS, three successful control strategies were implemented simultaneously: ratio control, cascade control, and decentralized control. The corresponding experiments were implemented in the Automation Lab of UTEC (Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología) using industrial PID (Proportional Integral Derivative) algorithms.
