Resumen
INTRODUCTION. The United Nations encourages aging research; the World Health Organization encourages it. The lack of knowledge of older adults about aging threatens their quality of life rights. OBJECTIVE. Determine the impact of knowledge of aging on the quality of life of self-sufficient older adults. METHODOLOGY. Descriptive-quantitative study. Made in Arequipa-Peru, the instrument was a survey for a sample of 390 self-employed older adults. The descriptive analysis technique was used, with the MS-Excel statistical program and the inferential analysis technique, with the Chi Square statistical distribution. Directed interview on the operation of triage instruments, to determine the impact on the selective stratum of the population sample. RESULTS. Subjecting results to population criteria. Assessment of data collection instruments. Evaluation of vital signs with triage instruments. Relationship of socioeconomic level with quality of life. CONCLUSIONS. The level of knowledge of aging is subject to the level of education and socioeconomic status, and their training and standard of living must improve. Ignorance of physical changes and levels of commitment affect functionality and behavior towards oneself and one's environment. Socioeconomic level “B” has a better impact on the quality of life of the self-sufficient older adult. Knowing the health actions of nursing care, with triage instruments, and health care protocols, improves the quality of life. Knowledge and acceptance of aging impacts on the opportunities and factors of the quality of life of the self-sufficient older adult.
