Impact of GFRP Bars on Concrete Beams: A Bibliometric Analysis in Scopus from 1993 to 2024

Fernandez A.; Arestegui A.; Hinostroza J. · Congreso Internacional de Innovacion y Tendencias en Ingenieria, CONIITI (2025) · DOI: 10.1109/coniiti68560.2025.11366171

Resumen

This document aims to provide a bibliometric analysis of research advances regarding the use of glass fiber-reinforced polymer (GFRP) bars in reinforced concrete beams worldwide, covering the period from 1993 to 2024. The bibliometric analysis was conducted through a search of documents in the Scopus database, where an initial volume of 1,495 articles was obtained. In the first stage, a frequency analysis was carried out regarding document types, affiliations by country, study area, and language. Subsequently, in a second stage, an analysis was conducted considering categories such as countries, authors, journals, and institutions, using parameters such as the number of citations, document count, and h-index to identify the most relevant indicators, as well as the most prominent author, in this case, Professor Brahim Benmokrane, who achieved a standardized score more than twice that of the second-ranked author. Additionally, a systematic review of the identified literature was conducted, covering the main types of GFRP bar applications in concrete beams, key findings, and future research directions.
