Resumen

The generation of knowledge must be validated through its reproducibility and replicability, with research ethics and scientific integrity being important pillars in this construction; however, a new challenge presents itself for Research Integrity Committees and is the emergence of generative artificial intelligence, which poses a risk if it is not used in an ethical, efficient and accurate manner. The aim of the study was to identify the most frequently reported problems regarding scientific integrity and the use of artificial intelligence (AI). Regarding the methods studied, this is a bibliometric study that analyzed 1100 articles of which 162 were selected after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. Among the main findings, it was identified that the use of AI in some cases has been related to plagiarism and academic dishonesty, which requires that detection tools be more advanced and have adequate regulations to support those responsible for ensuring the quality and veracity of research products. Studies show high collaboration between authors, reflecting the complexity of the situation and the need for joint approaches to address ethical challenges. Clearer ethical leadership and regulations are crucial to ensure the responsible use of ChatGPT or other AI in scientific production.
