Impact of Continuous Improvement Methodologies on the Productivity of the Graphic Industry: A Systematic Review

Rodriguez D.C.; La Rosa A.J.O.; Salvador-Reyes R. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2024) · DOI: 10.18687/leird2024.1.1.780

Resumen

The high level of competition faced by the printing industry requires the use of tools to continuously increase productivity and efficiency. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of continuous improvement methodologies in increasing productivity in the printing industry through the existing literature. In this sense, a systematic review without meta-analysis was carried out. The methodology used in the study involved an exhaustive search for information and a detailed presentation of the data obtained through the SCOPUS database. After an exhaustive search and following the prism protocol, 144 articles were identified, of which 11 were selected for this review, applying eligibility criteria, and considering open access. The findings showed that the application of various continuous improvement methodologies has contributed significantly to several key aspects of the printing industry, such as delivery times, process improvement, among others, which is very useful. It became evident that the implementation of the methodologies as a whole is more efficient for the improvement and increase of productivity. In this sense, the continuous improvement methodologies proved to be successful in optimizing processes and increasing efficiency, confirming their effectiveness as excellent alternatives for improving performance and productivity. These practices can improve the sustainability of the sector, and can also serve as a model for other industries seeking to optimise their processes and improve productivity.
