Resumen
This article analyzes the relationship between music and politics in the songbook of the APRA Party in the context of its political participation in Peru in the period from 1930 to 1936. For this purpose, the lyrics of five songs from the APRA's songbook are taken as a reference. These compositions come from the Cancionero de Lima, a popular newspaper, and the Cancionero published by the Aprista Party itself in the early 1930s. The general conclusion is reached that music had an unprecedented role in the political culture of Peru. That role was to materialize the proposals of the party's political program in a musical discourse, at the same time that said music exalted the rituals of the original APRA.
