Resumen
This paper has two main purposes: to expose the linguistic ideologies of the defenders of Quechua pentavocalism in Cusco against the policy of standardization of Quechua writing proposed by the Ministry of Education, and to refute them with linguistic arguments. For this purpose, we have resorted to the qualitative research approach and its classic technique: the sociolinguistic interview as recommended by Labov (1983). The main results are that the pentavocalists conceive negative ideologies towards the standardization proposed by Minedu and their main attitude is one of rejection of the linguistic policy in question. Based on the findings, it is concluded that the ideologies exposed are based on the almost complete ignorance of linguistics on the part of the informants and on regionalist chauvinism that end up delaying the literacy of Quechua and greatly harm the mass production and comprehension of written texts in Runa Simi. © Los autores.
