Resumen
Wetlands are important ecosystems for human beings, they provide various natural riches. However, they are being threatened, due to urbanization, pollution, and deterioration of natural processes due to tourism. Thus, the main objective of this research is to identify the alterations of the ecosystem, using geographic information systems in Los Pantanos de Villa-Chorrillos. This article, which is descriptive, was applied and the ArcGIS program was used to determine the surfaces of areas, water bodies, and urban areas that have changed over the years. The results show significant changes in the surface area of the ecosystem, which was reduced from 3, 626, 6242 m2 to 2, 227, 232 m^2; while the urban areas grew from 3653.7 m2 to 733424.4 m^2 and the water mirrors increased 3 479.606 3 m2 due to the addition of artificial lagoons, in addition, it was possible to know the characteristics of the flora and fauna in the reserved area. It is concluded, the alteration in the decrease of the ecosystem area, reduction of natural lagoons and increase of artificial lagoons and increase of urban areas. Likewise, mitigation measures were proposed to counteract the negative environmental impacts.
