Huaman Carranza M.; Depaz Celi K.; Pasco Meza M.; Polo Salazar R. · Springer Proceedings in Earth and Environmental Sciences (2025) · DOI: 10.1007/978-981-96-4345-5_1

Resumen

The objective was to demonstrate the reduction of organic matter in the oxidation ditch with a design flow of 0.519 m3d-1, total volume of 0.368 m3, considering a hydraulic retention time of 17 h, aeration with a brush was produced. Surface swivel, with electric motor of 0.5 horsepower. The results of the hydraulic conditions were associated with temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, COD and BOD, the relationship of recirculation flow and inlet flow of 0.752 was reported. The temperature reached 18.55 ℃ in the tributary, in the aeration zone it reached 17.08 ℃ and varying at the outlet with an amount of 17.9 ℃ as a minimum value; the pH oscillated between 7.42 to 7.92 in the influent, 7.86 to 8.22 in the reactor and 7.81 to 8.23 in the effluent; dissolved oxygen in the reactor was between 0.5 mg/L and 2.0 mg/L, guaranteeing aerobic oxidation; It was possible to verify that the average removal efficiencies of the biochemical an chemical oxygen demand were 77.76%, and performing the confidence test, a value of 99.99% was determined for inlet and outlet flows. It is concluded that there is a relationship between good hydraulic control and the efficiency of the oxidation ditch as a secondary treatment unit. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
