HOW DO BUREAUCRATS PUNCTUATE?
Cubas S.V. · Acta Poetica (2026) · DOI: 10.19130/iifl.ap.2026.1/00x43w0sm274
Resumen
The essay analyzes the intersection of bureaucracy, punctuation, and temporality in modern literature and the avant-garde. From Kafka and Sterne to Surrealists and Futurists, it shows how punctuation marks represent waiting, suspension, and control of textual flow, functioning as metaphors for bureaucracy. The transformation of syntax reflects changes in communication, power, and the perception of time, anticipating the technical immediacy of the electrical telecommunications era.
