Resumen

This study analyzes hate speech on Facebook in the context of Peruvian politics, based on an analysis of speech acts during the presidential elections held between January and May 2021. The fieldwork involved monitoring comments posted by users on the Facebook pages of five Peruvian digital media outlets (El Comercio, La República, RPP, Diario Expreso, and El Búho) during the 2021 election period, from January to May. Approximately 1,500 statements were collected via screenshots with their respective URLs, and qualitative criteria were subsequently applied to refine and reduce the corpus for analysis. The research covers speech acts, discursive strategies of discrediting and dehumanization, and the impact on perceptions of Peruvian politics and society. By considering the sociopolitical context, the diversity of posts, and the ethical implications, this study seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of phenomena such as discrediting, ideological polarization, and discursive racism.
