GEOLOGICAL AND GEOCHEMICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF THE LOS ALISOS MINING PROSPECT, LA ENCAÑADA - CAJAMARCA, 2025

Culqui Santillan A.J.; Llovera Chunqui J.L.; Quispe Larreategui D.L.; Vergara Medina M.F.; Cáceres Pérez S. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2026) · DOI: 10.18687/laccei2026.1.1.1442

Resumen

The research conducted at the Los Alisos mining prospect aimed to characterize its geology and geochemistry in order to evaluate its mining potential. The study was developed in three phases: pre-field, field, and post-field. In the pre-field phase, a bibliographic review and analysis of historical information from the study area were carried out. Data collection formats were designed, and an area of 11 hectares within the permitted zone was delimited. Additionally, geochemical and petrographic sampling was planned, along with a geophysical line to evaluate the resistivity and chargeability of the lithology, in order to improve the interpretation of the deposit. Likewise, a selective Rock Chip sampling method was defined, collecting samples within a 2 m radius to obtain representative data from areas with potential. During the field phase, geological mapping was conducted at a scale of 1:1,000. Eight samples were collected for geochemical analysis of Au and Ag using the gravimetric method, and six samples were collected for thin sections as part of the petrographic study. In parallel, a 50 m long geophysical line with a NE-SW orientation was carried out using the resistivity method. For this purpose, a PQWT resistivity meter was used, allowing analysis of ground resistivity to a depth of 150 m. In the post-field phase, the obtained data were processed using specialized software such as ArcGIS 10.8, Excel, and AutoCAD 20.1. The geochemical samples were analyzed at L & M Laboratory S.A.C., while the petrographic samples were analyzed at the UPN Geology Laboratory using the Keysell universal petrographic stereoscope and subsequently an OPTIKA B-510POL-I petrographic microscope with an HDMI/USB 4K/8 MP CMOS camera. The results of the geochemical and petrographic studies indicate that the prospect presents favorable characteristics, making it a prospective area for the development of more detailed exploration work.
