Objective: To evaluate the gastroprotective effect of the plants Stachis arvensis L. known as subssacha and Paspalum notatum L., called sweet grass in ulcerous rats provoked by ethanol. Methods: The sample consisted of 25 animals in groups of five for each of the treatments. A dose of 500 mg/kg of subssacha and sweet grass was applied for three days. One hour later, 1 mL of ethanol was administered orally in the sample. Results: It was found that a dose of Stachis Arvensis L. significantly decreased the ethanol-induced ulcer damage in the rats and with the application of a dose of Paspalum notatum L., the sample presented a reduced anti-ulcer effect. Conclusions: After sucralfate administration there was a decrease in damage. Under laboratory conditions, a dose of Stachis arvensis L. extract presented a gastroprotective effect in ethanol-induced ulcerative rats.
