Resumen
It is reported the case of a 5-day-postpartum primiparous Holstein cow that presented with locomotion problems. During the physical examination, physiological vital signs were within normal ranges; however, swelling was observed in the proximal and medial tibia of the right hind limb, which was confirmed by palpation. Three days later, the cow showed difficulty standing and moving. At the medial and proximal levels, increased flaccidity of the gastrocnemius muscle and its tendon was evident. Due to the worsening locomotion problems and the animal's general health, it was decided to proceed with slaughter on day five, and a necropsy was performed. The definitive diagnosis was a rupture of the gastrocnemius muscle and the distal portion of the biceps femoris. ©Los autores.
