Resumen
Objective: to determine the prevalence of difficulty in lower impacted third molar surgery, in a panoramic radiographic study, in patients at an imaging diagnostic center, from January to July 2022, Lima, Peru. Method: descriptive and retrospective study in which a panoramic radiographic study was performed on the files of patients treated at an imaging diagnostic center from January to July 2022. The level of complexity prior to surgery was analyzed using the Peñarrocha index. Results: A total of 215 impacted lower third molars were evaluated, originating from 141 patients, 51.8% of whom were female. The most prevalent age group was 20 to 29 years old, accounting for 30.5%. The most common preoperative complexity level was moderate, accounting for 77.2%, followed by low difficulty, accounting for 16.3%. Conclusions: Lower third molars were found to be more prevalent at a medium level of pre-surgical complexity.
