Resumen
Research is a transversal process in university undergraduate studies, for this reason the main objective of the research was to determine the influence of formative inquiry on the development of research competencies of university students. The type of research was applied with a quantitative approach and a cross-sectional pre-experimental design, with pretest and posttest evaluations; The methods used were the hypothetical deductive and the synthetic analytical. The population was made up of 178 students from the Professional School of Nursing of the Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza National University of Amazonas-Peru, and a sample of 30 students from the VI and VII academic cycle; The technique used was observation, collecting data using an observation sheet. After applying the post-test, it was found that 46.7% of students managed to develop research skills in a general way and 3.3% did so, but in a moderate way; The non-parametric Kruskal Wallis test demonstrated differences in the ranges of the pre and post test, a Chi-Square of 55.067; and value = 0.000 < 0.05, so it was concluded that formative research significantly influences the development of investigative skills. © Licencia de Creative Commons Atribución 4.0 Internacional (CC BY 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/deed.es
