Resumen

An ecological landscape study was developed in the area of influence of the Kinteroni flowline, in Lot 57 (Southern Peru), which seeks to answer the main questions framed in the Environmental Management Strategy of the project, which implies knowing how it has changed the ecosystem and if the strategy implemented begins to show a tendency for ecosystem recovery in terms of structure and functionality. The analysis was carried out in a total area of 6211.09 ha, divided into sections; I and II of the flowline. Ecologically it is located within the scope of tropical rainforests of the Amazon Basin. The indicators are evaluated from 2011 (before the project) until the fourth year of monitoring (2015); the change in vegetation cover and biomass being analyzed in addition to the evaluation of deforestation rates in the Right of Way (ROW), using high resolution satellite images, LIDAR sensor information and field data of biological monitoring and revegetation. The main results show that, of the total projected area, only 18.76% (section I) and 23.68% (section II) were used for the construction of the flowline. The RoW without post-construction vegetation cover represented 1.18% and 2.13% of surface area in the area of influence. The actions of revegetation and natural regeneration show the establishment of a small secondary forest, which reaches 84.43% and 77.25% of vegetation cover in section I and II respectively; also the herbaceous vegetation reaches between 10% and 16.40% of coverage in the sections evaluated. In its operation, the biomass inside the surrounding forests is greater than or comparable to the average of the forests in Peru and that of the most productive forests of Amazonian regions below 1000 meters above sea level. In the RoW and revegetation product, by 2015, biomass reaches 10% of the biomass measure of the country's forests The RoW shows net deforestation rates (TDN); minimum TDN = 0.0002 (section I), or negative TDN = −0.0069 (section II). It implies that deforestation by 2015 has been reduced to its minimum expression and there is an increase in vegetation cover and recovery of biomass from revegeted areas with natural regeneration.
