Resumen
This article proposes as a research topic two novelized biographies or biographical novels: Una mujer sola contra el mundo by Luis A. Sánchez and El paraíso en la otra esquina by Mario Vargas Llosa, both inspired by the historical character of Flora Tristán. The objective is to make a comparative and multidisciplinary analysis of such historical novels; for this purpose, we have resorted to the hermeneutic review of sources such as biographies, memoirs, and writings of the historical character to contrast Tristán’s ideas with those represented in literary fiction. Our study shows that, in both works, Tristan’s ideas are against traditional marriage and in favor of free love; against the Church and religion; against the role of women in society and in favor of the creation of new institutions in society; in short, positions that promote a radical change in the model of society and in the traditional role of women.
