Fito Paez's rock chronicle as a story of Namerica

Hernandez J.F.C.; Casas J.P.F. · Logos: Revista de Linguistica, Filosofia y Literatura (2026) · DOI: 10.15443/rl3613

Resumen

Tliis research presents a case study on the autobiography Infancia & Juventud. Memorias (2022a) written by Argentine artist Rodolfo Paez. Critical reading proposes a new category: “rock chronicle.” It studies it from the relationships with the narrative traditions of the chroniclers of the Indies and the evolution of fiction and non-fiction genres that have always been in dialogue with the development of societies. There, the concept ofNamerica, coined by Martin Caparros (2021), will be essential and will allow us to see how textual types, even if they are fixed by their printed nature, have then own mobility with characteristics anchored in the cities that, post-dictatorships, achieved a new continent more connected to the rest of the world. In the writing exercise, a collective memory is traced that is legitimized through forms, punctuation, living languages and direct relationships with television, music and cinema. That is the rock chronicle of Slamerica. Likewise, the work discusses and cites notions such as life stories, story, voice, testimony, universal individual and by analyzing them, from a transdisciplinary theoretical framework, we can trace how narrative journalism today has various forms that, even, generate tension with the most conservative genres. © (2026), (Universidad de la Serena,Departamento de Artes y Letras).
