Resumen
Small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises in the city of Cuenca, Ecuador, face difficulties, including limited access to financing due to not meeting the requirements of Ecuadorian financial institutions. The goal is to develop a financial governance model as a tool to support these organizations in meeting financial requirements that allow them to access credit, taking into account certain economic-financial variables. From a methodological perspective, an explanatory study with a quantitative approach is proposed, and hypotheses are formulated based on theoretical elements that support the proposed relationships. The quantitative data is projected using the SmartPLS4 software. Positive and significant relationships are highlighted between: 1) access to credit and productivity in SMEs, with a 0.850; p-values ≤ 0.05; 2) financial management and banking requirements (0.703; p-values ≤ 0.05); 3) financial governance and financial management (0.823; p-values ≤ 0.05); and 4) banking requirements and access to financing (0.774; p-values ≤ 0.05), all of which were accepted. The hypothesis that proposes the relationship between the variables was rejected at 0.202; p-values > 0.05. Financial governance is an alternative to meet banking requirements, from which the studied companies will be able to access credits and have liquidity to face financial requirements. © (2026), (Corporacion Universitaria Lasallista).
