Resumen
A case of facultative myiasis is reported in the city of Juanjuí, San Martín Region (Peru), in a male, eight-year-old, 8-kg mixed-breed domestic dog that had a wound in the right infraorbital area that was the result of a bite from another dog and that was not treated at the time. Six larvae were extracted and placed in breeding jars until adults were obtained for later identification. One female Lucilia eximia individual, one male Chrysomya megacephala individual, and four female individuals from the Sarcophagidae family were identified. These types of reports are important for public health because humans can also be infested by some of the same species of Diptera that infest other animals such as dogs and cats. ©Los autores.
